Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program

The Framingham Housing Authority joined the Section 8 Centralized Waiting List on January 11, 2012. Applications can be downloaded from the MASS NAHRO website:

The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program is a Federal Housing Program funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Families, elderly, disabled/handicapped people and single people may be eligible. In order to determine preliminary eligibility the applicant must supply our office with income information so that we can determine if he/she is income eligible.
The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program also has a mobility component. A Section Eight Housing Choice Voucher issued by the Framingham Housing Authority can be used anywhere in the United States, including Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
In the case that you do find an apartment, the amount you and the Framingham Housing Authority pay to the landlord will be determined and written into the lease and contract. There are payment standards that are based on the number of bedrooms in the unit. After the lease and contract have been signed and executed, you and the Framingham Housing Authority will each send a share of the rent directly to the landlord.
Families under The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program are also eligible to participate in the Family Self Sufficiency Program. This program has been very successful thus far.
Landlords can also list available units for rent with our office.
